Exceptional tourism and hospitality services in the Asia and Australasia region to be honored at the luxurious Da Nang resort on October 15.

The Asia and Australasia Gala Ceremony 2016 of the World Travel Awards will be held at the InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort on October 15.

The ceremony honors 2016’s exceptional tourism and hospitality services in the Asian and Australasian region. This year’s ceremony will be attended by 180 guests from the business community, tourism experts, and the global media in the Great Hall of the resort’s The Summit auditorium and is the most anticipated event of the regional tourism and hospitality industry.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Binh, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, confirmed with VET that there are two hotels and resorts in Vietnam receiving awards: Vinpearl Da Nang Resort & Villas and the InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort.

“The Organizing Board of the awards ceremony picked the InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort to host what is considered the Oscars of the tourism industry because we were convinced by the natural beauty, the luxurious facilities, and the world-class service at the resort,” said Mr. Graham Cooke, President of the World Travel Awards. “We hope the resort is going to leave a good impression on participants.”

The InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort will ensure the rooms, food, spa, and security are at their very best in order to bring excellent services to the guests. According to the resort’s management, being selected as the venue for the Asia and Australasia Gala Ceremony 2016 is another testimonial to the resort’s prestige.

The event will also put Da Nang on the list of world-renowned luxury destinations, as the participation of the 180 influential players in the global tourism scene and the world media is an opportunity to promote the image of Da Nang among tourists from all over the world.

The World Travel Awards were first held in 1993 to acknowledge, reward, and celebrate excellence across all key sectors of the travel, tourism, and hospitality industry. The World Travel Awards brand is globally recognized as the ultimate hallmark of quality, with winners setting the benchmark for all to strive towards and reach. The annual program is renowned as the most prestigious and comprehensive event in the global industry.

The InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort is located on Son Tra peninsula and was developed by the Sun Group and is managed by the InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG). Set on 37 ha of stepped gardens leading down to a private beach, each of its 200 rooms and villas guarantee dramatic views of the crystal clear waters of the East Sea.

In the first six months of this year Da Nang welcomed over 2.4 million visitors, an increase of 11.1 per cent year-on-year, according to the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Of these, 795,646 were international visitors, up 29.7 per cent year-on-year, and 1.6 million were Vietnamese visitors, up 4 per cent.
