Le Meridien Saigon welcomed its new general manager, Justin Malcolm


Justin Malcolm recently joined the 343-room upscale Le Méridien Saigon Hotel in June 2016.  Prior to Le Méridien Saigon, Mr. Malcolm had been the General Manager of the 296-room Aloft Bangkok – Sukhumvit 11, the first Aloft hotel in South Asia, a popular hotel located off Sukhumvit Road in central Bangkok.

Mr. Malcolm started his 20-year career in 1995 at the Sheraton Sydney Airport Hotel, Australia, where he took on various roles before transferring to the Sheraton Grande Laguna Phuket as Assistant Manager in 1998. During his tenure there, Justin was instrumental in the successful launch of Starwood Preferred Guest, the brand’s award-winning programme within the resort. He then returned to Australia to join The Westin Sydney, Westin’s first hotel in the Pacific, as a member of the pre-opening management team.

In 2006, Justin moved to The Westin Kuala Lumpur as Director of Rooms, overseeing the operation of 384 guest rooms and 68 executive residences. He was instrumental in increasing guest satisfaction and profitability, and won awards for the Excellence in Hotel Service, Best City Hotel, Hotel of the Year and Best Serviced Apartment Hotel.

In 2008, Mr. Malcolm was appointed as Resort Manager at Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort and Spa and was responsible for the complete conversion and renovation of Sheraton’s luxury resort. During his time in Maldives, Starwood awarded him as the most Inspiring Leader of the Year in 2009.

In 2011, Le Méridien Chiang Rai Resort appointed him as General Manager for two years, and under his tenure the resort also received a number of industry leading awards, including 2012 Best Reputation Management by HOTELS Magazine, TripAdvisor’s Travelers’ Choice Award for Top 25 luxury hotels in Thailand as well as being ranked #1 on TripAdvisor. Malcolm was the founding Chairman of PATA (Pacific Asia Travel Association) Chiang Rai Chapter and won PATA’s 2012 Face of the Future award for his efforts in building and driving tourism in Chiang Rai.
