HCMC serviced residence notches up 20 years of hospitality excellence.

Somerset Chancellor Court serviced residence, a joint venture between Ascott and the Ben Thanh Group, recently celebrated 20 years of hospitality excellence with a gala dinner.

The celebrations also rounded off an extremely successful year for Ascott, which saw an additional 1,500 units in Vietnam and reinforced its position as the undisputed leader of serviced residences, with more than 4,000 units across seven cities and provinces in the country.

Officially opened in 1996, the company is managed by The Ascott Limited. The event was graced by the presence of H.E. Leow Siu Lin, Consul-General for the Republic of Singapore in Ho Chi Minh City, and saw close to 200 guests comprising business partners and residents.

“Thanks to the strong support of customers, staff and business partners, Somerset Chancellor Court has established itself as one of the top international standard serviced residences in the heart of District 1, Ho Chi Minh City,” said Ms. Lew Yen Ping, General Director of Somerset Chancellor Court. “With occupancy consistently above 90 per cent, the property has, over the last 20 years, delivered good returns to both Ascott Residence Trust and the Ben Thanh Group.”

Mr. David Lester, one of Somerset Chancellor Court’s longest residents, said: “The leadership team presents a high hospitality standard that flows through all levels of staff at Somerset Chancellor Court. Thank you for a great evening and thank you to the wonderful staff, security guards, guest service, housekeeping staff and gym attendant, who have made my 14 years with you so enjoyable.”

The serviced residence has garnered numerous awards, including, most notably, a Labor Medal Third Class for excellence from the State President of Vietnam in 2013, a Certificate of Excellence from the Prime Minister in 2011, a Golden Dragon Award for Best Serviced Residence from Vietnam Economic Times for nine years, and a World Travel Award for three consecutive years since 2014.

The Ascott Limited is a Singaporean company that has grown to be one of the leading international serviced residence owner-operators. It has over 29,000 operating serviced residence units in key cities in the Americas, Asia-Pacific, Europe and the Middle East, as well as over 22,000 units under development, for a total of more than 52,000 units in over 300 properties. The company operates three award-winning brands: Ascott, Citadines and Somerset. Its portfolio spans more than 100 cities across 27 countries.

Ascott, a wholly-owned subsidiary of CapitaLand Limited, pioneered Asia-Pacific’s first international-class serviced residence with the opening of The Ascott Singapore in 1984. Today it boasts over 30 years of industry track record and award-winning serviced residence brands that enjoy recognition worldwide.
