On 17^th January, 2017, Hoa Sen University Board issued press release on the HCMC People's Committee decided to recognize Dr. Luu Tien Hiep taking replacement for Ms. Bui Tran Phuong to be the Principal of Hoa Sen University (HSU) since 17^th Jan.

Earlier, the HCMC People's Committee issued Decision No. 203 / QD-UB on the non-recognition HSU Principal which showed non recognition to Ms. Bui Tran Phuong to hold the position of principal of HSU term 2012 -2017. This decision was based on a number of provisions of law and the report of HSU Board which took effect on 17^th Jan. The same day, the HCMC People's Committee also issued Decision No. 204 / QD-UB on the recognition Principal Term 2012 -2017 HSU (in terms of BOD) for Dr. Luu Tien Hiep.

According to information of the Labour Reporter newspaper, around the middle of December 2016, there was a Board meeting and 100% members agreed to dismiss Ms.Phuong from the Principal position, and the reason is that Ms.Phuong has not gotten enough trust from HSU Board any more, said Dr.Luu Tien Hiep. The change is necessary to meet the school's development in the new situation and fully consistent with the provisions of law and rules of the HSU ".

Dr. Luu Tien Hiep has nearly half a century teaching and stick with university management. He used to study in Australia for 13 years and graduated with Ph.D. in 1972 and post Ph.D. in 1973 in Australia. He was appointed Associate Professor in 1984. He has held the position of Vice Principal Polytechnic University (the predecessor of today's University of Technology). After 1975, he continued to manage training at Polytechnic University and then as deputy chief of the Division of Training and Research at the University of Technology. 1983-1984 studied privately for Biotechnology at University de Bourgogne ENSBANA, France.
